Thailand's most unmemorable day: 14 October 1973

There are not many major political dates or civil wars in Thailand. However, October 14, 1973 is one of the most significant event happened due to the struggling of democracy and is an event that non of any Thai civilization want it to happen again and try to forget about it. Flashing back around 40 years ago, Thailand was ruled under but it was temporarily ruled by a branch of government. However, governments at that time were weak and scrawny that the military had to take responsibility protection the people. In other words, Thai was originally democracy but during this time, it was overruled under dictatorship. They started to rule people under dictatorship and suffered Thai populaces based on scores of their casualties. It is worse in this case of situation, since Thanom Kittchakorn, the general, told his armed forces that they have the right to do anything they want, even the right to kill any citizens they dislike.

Conversely, people could not live their life under dynamisms and dictated government-like. As a result, 500,000 Thai inhabitants gathered together as one and started to protest towards the military for their rights and demand for democracy as their politic system, once again. Citizens and university students led this demonstration; most students are from Thammasat University since the protest occurred near Thammasat Unicersity. Not so long after people start to protest and attempts to recall their rights back, Thanom presided over an exploitive military and establish massacring protestors which the event is called: Origin of the “Thammasat University Massacre”. This happened due to the Thais’ objection towards the Thanom Kittchakorn and his militants team. These anger the dictated side and make them fear about getting overthrown so they decided to assassinate and destroys all the protestant members. In addition, the military troops argued that they are not wrong conferring that they are protecting Thailand from these communist protestors, which are the threats of out country.

I truly believe that both sides: the militants and the protestors have done a very effective actions towards the history of Thailand, that sometimes, I think it is too much to handle. First of all, how the military side acts and overcome power is very radical. They not have the rights to do everything they want to just because they own weapons, and others do not. Because militaries are stronger than normal populaces as in their fighting skills, powers, and armed weapons, this is a great advantage for them because they can simply takes over with total dominance at anytime if there was no opposing them. This can later on lead to rebellions and a significant revolution in the country itself. However, I am for and supports the protestors since they are not asking or doing anything wrong but asking for rights that they are supposed to have back. I believe that what they did can be rebels and effective, however this will need supports from many civilians. Since they have many protestors than the amount of military had, they will finally get what belongs to them back and can overthrows them totalitarian militaries out.

As the politic issues are going badly in Thailand, King Rama IX could not handle anymore damages from the militants towards his populaces, so he ends this massacre by exiling the main armed frontrunners (starters) to four different countries, included Thanom Kittikachorn for backstabbing and assassin Thailand.

As a result of 14th century, or the Thammasat University Massacre, approximately 77 innocent populaces were killed, more than 850 are injured and massive disappeared. During they are exiled, King Rama IX has given the honor to a group of (weak) government temporarily while Thailand is repairing their politics, economics, and social units. After that, a new official politics government, voting and democracy; which he is a great guy in rebuilding Thailand and develops it further more have elected Chuan Leekpai as their government. Chuan Leekpai is Thailand’s 20th government. He play a significant role in anting corruption and get rid of corruptions out of Thailand. As well, he plays a huge role in reforming Thailand’s economics and human rights. He makes the market economies between Thailand and other coutnries growth even more trogly on selling national assets and natural resources. In addition, he was known as Mr. Clean, which indicates his respects, and hard work he has done towards the country, not just to get profits from himself. He is one of the best Thailand’s government at all time. As well, Rama IX gives his honor in visiting and healing each injured individuals in different public hospitals and provide funeral ceremonies for all death bodies which was located in the North of Sanam Luang or the Royal field and releases left over bones (after burning death bodies) into Chao Praya River with admirations and respects. In fact, this event does not affect the economic level as much, but socials and politics since this is one of the greatest civil war in Thailand’s history that cause huge damages to Thai citizens up to today.

Villainous Cloning

Moral Relativism is an idea needed to be investigate and it is the idea that individuals can modify and have different opinions/morals depending on the situation you are facing. This applies mostly with the technologies and sciences side due to its inventions and ideas. However, the main image of moral relativism is to observes individual's opinion towards the topic, which individual has to decided whether they think that idea gives more advantages, or contrastingly, more disadvantages. There are tons of examples in the world today that shows big opinion of each individuals for example: cloning people. In this case, I disagree with the idea that scientists should start cloning. First of all, its natural for all living organism to live and to die. Some individuals may say that cloning gives more advantages and they are good because it can extends people's lifetime. Well, I want to know why do we need to expand life times? I understands that we are all afraid of deaths and futures, but we can never escape it and the only way is to face against it. As well, once cloning will lengthen up an ability for humans to live longer, it will also gives an effect on scaling up the size of population today, which is already overload. Secondly, who would want another people that looks exactly like them? That is just a mess! That would lessen up individual's value because when there are many things that are exactly the same, people seems to ignore them.

Speaking Communicationally

Communication means a connection between people in passing or receiving information to an individual or to groups of people, which was a routine and have been occurring from generations after generations. In addition, this happens due to the world’s events for example, the industrial revolution meaning that the greater the time it passes, more advance technology will be improved due to developments within the contemporary and up coming society.  Communication is another form and built up base for technology: when one becomes more advance and innovated, the other will develop its function afterwards as well. Flashing back to 33,000 BCE was when communication first started, the cave painting. This is the first way the Homo sapiens used to transfer information about their life style and how their life time was like by drawing on their own home, in this case is the cave. However, as time has developed more technology are created and communication becomes more advance in broadcasting information to people ranges from: cave painting, smoke signaling, newspaper, printing press, postal letter, semaphore, Morse code, telephone, pigeons carrier, computer, wireless mobile, internet, and lastly to modern days social network. As you can see from our info-graphic, you will observes that during mid 1700s to late 1800s, technology and communication has extremely developed due to the industrial revolution where it was the start of many of the world’s greatest inventions. Later, communication seems to become more efficient and a major effect of human’s daily activities and have a massive effects in business and stock markets. According to the new formations of technologies and complicated communications assortment, it is human’s nature to find new ways to connect to the others to make profits for their economy level; because people seems to have more wants in gaining money and starting their own business, it is the creation and a formation of the greatest business in economy ever, the stock market. However, the stock market can never be as successful as it is right now if it is lack of people’s participation and the development of technology and communication. So we could conclude that: stock market can only be as big as the communication allows it to be. This means that the bigger communication gets, the bigger the stock market will be.

Making an info-graphic is a great assignment that needs researches, methods, and creativit to make it successful. Based on the info-graphic on communication our group created, we have shown our skills in researching and designing, as seen below. The process of making an info-graphic is not difficult at all if everyone in the group cooperates as one. The first thing we have to do is brainstorm. In this case, my teacher has assigned us to put at least 15 interesting information about out topic; so firstly, we have to choose what we wanted to put on the info-graphic. I started doing researches on the development of communication: what was used to communicate first until nowadays-contemporary world. Then when we have all the information we are putting it down on our info-graphic, we started to search for examples of info-graphic to inspire us of our info-graphic. Once we had an idea about what our resulted piece will look like, we started to draw its format by using a program called ‘Adobe Photoshop CS5’, and in this case was my responsibility to do all the graphics while the other two are searching for interesting information that is related to each topics. After we have finished on out format of the info-graphic, we started to organize our piece in order and starting to insert facts and related images into it. When we’re done with that, out last step is to add in our bibliography or our sources of information to make it look reliable and trustful.

My group and I has well collaborates on each individual’s assigned jobs but in my opinion, I did the most job in the group because the two members only have to look for information while I have to do multitasking such as: research of information (as well), search for images, and create the whole layout/graphic designs by myself but I would not take that as a risk because I am the only one who knows how to use Photoshop. Everyone in our team has brings together their efforts and cooperation to the group, even though some times our work are delayed, but we still have a wonderful and effective outcome of our info-graphic. I’d like to thanks all my group members for helping and supporting one another all the time, and I hope that we have a chance to work together again on our next project.

I think my group’s info-graphic is really effective towards audience because we use simple vocabularies, make it looks attractive and we climbed up from ancient time to the contemporary society in order to make it easier for readers. In our info-graphic shown below, you cant see that people in early age have to work really heart to come up with ideas for a new invention that would change the whole world. Every modern technology mainly got their ideas from the past inventions and develops it further more by adapting them to people’s culture.

Making an info-graphic is easy, but making it completely perfect is the difficult part about it because nothing is perfect. First of all, I wanted to clarify that our info-graphic is not ‘THAT’ beautiful, but is not ‘THAT’ bad either. I think the design, colours, facts, and pictures were amazing but what we need to improve on is the shape of the info-graphic. As you can see, our info-graphic is really long and narrow which makes it difficult for us to inserts images on to it because of the disadvantages in spacing.

In my opinion, communication means everything to us, humans. This is because we need to communicate around the world, that is the culture we depends our lives on for centuries. If everyone is lack of communication, the world cannot be any more advance in technology because technology means becoming more connected, but if we are lack of communication it means that we are as well, becoming more isolated. Nonetheless, the world will not develop and will remain the same because we are lack of communication and unification. The world can develop as much as communications allows them to, so if there is no communication, they can never be developments in our own society ever. Thank you for checking out my blog on communication, I hope you guys enjoyed it.

Beyond Morality

The three most common religions in our time right now are: Buddhism, Islamic, and Christianity. These religions are common because they have been around for a very long time with minor changes made to each one of them dividing them up into different branches. Most of the world’s populations follow one of these three popular religions.

Buddhism is a religion which originated in India and has had major changes made to them depending on where it is practiced. The main things are still the same though. According to the theory of Buddhism, the religion was created by Buddha, who created a way of life for people to follow. He did not want to be idolized, but people idolized him and made him the “creator” of this religion. He taught people to live a life of happiness, not to have greed, but be good to everyone. This religion originated in India and as it went through Asia, people developed this religion to match their culture. Buddhism does not have any particular branches, but there are small differences found in religious practices.

Dharma is one of Buddha’s teachings. He does not demand people to convert to Buddhism, unlike some other religions which preach and encourage people to join their faith. This religion mostly teaches humans how to live their lives morally. This religion discourages lying, and deceitful acts, and is based on good morals. The goal of Buddha was not to have people convert to Buddhism, but to teach them the way of living a fulfilling and good life.

Now, Kalamas, do not be led by reports, or tradition, or hearsay. Be not led by the authority of religious texts, nor by mere logic or inference, nor by considering appearances, nor by the delight in speculative opinions, nor by seeming possibilities, nor by the idea: “This is our Teacher”. But, O Kalamas, when you know for yourselves that certain things are unwholesome and wrong and bad, then give them up… and when you know that certain things are wholesome and good, and that the wise believe them to be so, then accept them and follow them.
Meaning:

This quote is trying to tell people not to believe everything you hear just because you’ve heard it from a rumor, or that it was found in some religious book, or an elder’s words, or some tradition. This quote tells you that you should believe things based on your own observations and by doing things for your own good and benefit. Accept it, and live through life.

To follow Buddhism, the individual himself has to be able to reflect and understand what he anticipates in life and what he desires in return because Buddha’s teaching is not just about learning what we have to learn; it’s about learning to love life and know how life is like. The Three important rules in the practice of Buddhism are: Listen, Reflect, and Meditate. It is an individual or a group’s study of life experiences and approaching your goal.

WE SHALL NOT SUFFER

Once upon a time around 50 years ago in the land of Elipaghlae, Sir Frederick and Madame Mitchell give birth to a beautiful young baby, Britney, after they had married for 2 whole years. Britney loves both of her parents. She grew up in a loving environment but lack time spent with Sir Frederick.

When Britney turns 12, she lost her mother from the misunderstanding of doctors. The doctor thought that Madame Mitchell has cancer on her lung so they give her the cancer chemotherapy, however that is not the reason of Madame Mitchell's sickness which the misunderstanding of doctors killed Madame Mitchell's life cruelly. After her mother's funeral, Britney has never trust anyone again except her father. Sadly that Sir Frederick also do not know how to take care of his daughter wisely because he couldn't spend all his time with her due to that he is the richest person in Elipaghlae and only spends his time working for money for his family's future. As a father, he can feel the loneliness of his daughter so he tries to fulfill her want by buying her any possible items on earth that she wanted to own and he also find her a stepmother who loves her as much as Madame Mitchell, Madame Katherine.

Madame Mitchell is a lovely woman. She loves Britney like she is her daughter, but sadly, Britney does not feel the love from her and she hates her so much. Her father gave her all she wants to fill the hole her mother has left, Britney consequentially became spoiled.

Then things went downward for Sir Federick, the economic failed miserably and having to withstand the pressure he committed suicide. The house became bankrupt, Britney and her step-mother were forced to move to a more inconvenient, 'poorer' house. Be cause of money deficiency the step-mother weren't able to buy everything Britney wants. So, Britney couldn't stand the suffering and decided to move out to live with her friend Elias. Elias is a friend who is not so wealthy, but can keep Britney away from loneliness. Her father is a monk of a near-by temple. One day Britney saw this brand new iPod  and asked Elias for some money, but of course Elias didn't have any, so Britney decided to go ask Elias' father. seeing the situation Britney is in, Elias' father taught Britney a lesson if life. He told her to let go of everything she wanted to have because she will never have. She should stop wanting so that when she couldn't get something she wanted to have, she would not be suffering.

End desire to stop wanting.

Moral: stop wanting = stop suffering.
The only way to stop suffering is to stop wanting.

Hey 2012 !

The year 2011 is best identified by what events, ideas, or people?

The year 2012 is coming up in three days. People seem to be excited about it. Some are happy, some are sad, and some worry. My prediction about 2012 is that the world will not explode nor there will be a huge wave of natural disaster hitting many countries in the world like what the Mayans have said, but in that fact, I believe that the "year hottest search" would be about December 21st, 2012, when most people thinks that it is the world's ending. In my opinion, the world would change a lot during 2012 such as new inventions, new ideas, and new events. However, future is nearly impossible to predict, but past can be told accurately from understanding the world.
The most important thing about 2011 is the economic marketing, the relationships between countries, and the development of technology. As time pass by, the amount of crimes has increased as well. For example as in Thailand, Thailand’s economic in the year 2011 dropped badly from the flooding situation. However, I am pretty sure that the economic will improve and will recover in the year 2012 but not much. As well, the international relationship between Thailand and other countries will get better as well; such as the marketing system and their connections (association between Thailand and a country).
Looking at the big view of the world during the course of 2011, it has also gone weirdly than other past years and it does not only happen on the year 2011, but will be happening in the year 2012 and years after it too. This problem is an over population issue which would lead to the scarcity of resources and to the cause of supplying and demanding. This will lead to more problems such as more crime happens due to the lag of food. The world would later be "too" small to handle the large amount of population. This would lead to more important problems that will strikes the people themselves.

RED HOT POISONED TOMATO?

Have you ever wonder or came up a question about tomatoes? For me, the toughest question concerning about tomatoes is what really is tomato. Is it a fruit or is it a vegetable. This is a question that even scientists take more than a day to figure it out, and the result that it is a fruit regarding to it seeds! Isn’t that exciting and interesting? But later in my life, I had been wondering and thinking about how tomatoes have moved from one place to the other. Does tomatoes came from one place and starts to spread around the world? Why can it be so famous throughout the world until now?

When I was a little girl, I’ve believed that all tomatoes were originated in France! This is because they cook lots of food that have tomatoes included in it. Later on in life, when this question has came up on my head again, I got a feeling that there’re possible chances that tomatoes do not came from France, but other country. This is because when I was young, I also thought that opium was from China regarding to their addictions, but it is not. In this fact, I rather choose to search for real information rather than thinking about it by not knowing the truth and I have found out that the opium has been diffused from other country that planned to force the Chinese to trade with them.

Thinking about the past of what has inspired me, I as well chooses to search about the origin of the tomatoes to learn about where it really came from, how it migrates from one country to the other and it fames nowadays compare to the old days.

The first tomato was found at a country in Western South America, Peru during the 700 AD. Tomatoes haven’t been spreading at that time; it doesn’t have a chance to spread itself all over its own country, until the 16th century. During the 16th century was when tomatoes were first introduced. Even though people still cannot find an evidence to prove how tomatoes went from Peru to Mexico, but Mexico was the first place tomato diffused to. Later on, the Spanish explorer came over Mexico to explore creatures around that area and he found the tomatoes so he took it back to his colony. At the time, tomatoes were well established in North Mexico and were introduced to America and Canada by a European man. And later on was introduced to Asia and Europe. Paths of how tomatoes have migrated are like chains that connects idea together. It is like how the enlightenment idea has been spreading all over the world. But the way tomatoes spread itself around the world is different for the Britain. According to Britain, they first thought of the tomato as poison from its color, and its beauty appearance and as well as the Spain. As time pass, they have realized that they are eatable and they started to cook with it.

That’s the way tomato has been spreading and diffusing all around the world. Different country has different opinions toward tomato, but as a result, tomatoes became famous around the world nowadays.
