THAILAND......THE LAND OF WATER?
While I was enjoying the wonderful view of my city, Bangkok, I heard some serious unbelievable issue from the news reporter. What I heard was that Thailand was flooding!! Even Bangkok was going to flood! This was shocking news because it would be the scariest disaster I would have ever faced. The flood came from Ayutthaya and is running towards Bangkok, passing through many cities in Thailand. This natural disaster is affecting and impacting the way humans live. This disaster has increased the death rate in Thailand. People here have been suffering from the disaster in terms of starvation, displacement, drowning, and being electrocuted. People have to move to other places in order to survive. Because Bangkok is the capital city of Thailand, flooding in Bangkok will create biggest changes within people. First, people’s house are flooded and either people inside are suffer from the lack of food or they have already moved outside. This still is a big problem for humanity living around that area. Source of foods and water are limited nowadays and not just humans are suffering from starving due to lack of food, people are curious as well due to the flood situation whether it hits their house already or whether it is hitting their house soon. As well as the news reporter and the forecasters, I do understand that they want people to realize of what is happening in their country, but sometime, forecasters make wrong prediction which will affect how people reacts to the plight and puts pressure on them. This didn’t seem too serious at first but it became more serious as the flood has hit Ayutthaya at roof high (approximately 2 meters). That was when the government took it more seriously to solving the flood situation, and their solution was to build brick walls, but it didn’t help because they were not strong enough. All the brick walls could do was just slow down the water that came very harsh towards Bangkok, the main land where development and technologies are. The lack of food led to problems with supply and demand. Water and foods in most stores are all gone because people are afraid of the flooding so they quickly buy stuff, which decreases the supply of food and water. People who sell water become selfish. As they know that people at this time are suffer from lack of supplies such as water, food, sandbags, and ships, most sellers increase the prices of these objects to make profit ad income for themselves. For me, this is not fair for people, especially for the poor, because not just they need to use their money to repair their house after the flood; they also need money for supplies to survive as well. Secondly, as people migrate to other places this will create the problem of overcrowding and overpopulation in other areas outside Bangkok. This will also cause to the problem of supplying and demanding as well. Not only Thai people are affected but this affects everyone in the world because it causes damage in economics. Thailand’s economy will suffer because this is like a new start for Thailand, a chance to build up their country again. There is one big advantage about the flood even though they are enclosed by its disadvantage, but it is a good thing for Thailand because people now join together as one to help the others who are now suffering. At first, Thailand’s citizens were going to break apart into pieces due to the political problems, but now people came back for a reunion to help the ones who are suffering from the flood to make them safe. For example, people would gather in an area such as Don Mueng Airport to pack materials such as dry food to be sent for people in the flooded areas. I wish that the situation would be better soon and that Thailand’s economy would improve as soon as possible because I believe that there’s nothing that would beat the teamwork of us and that Thailand will soon be repaired.
